how do we help?

There is a wonderful story about a young man who comes upon a beach that is covered in hundreds of thousands of starfish dying in the hot sun. He starts picking them up one by one and throwing them back into the sea. An older man comes upon the scene and feels sorry for the poor boy. He says, “Son, you might as well stop. You aren’t making any difference.”

The young man throws another starfish into the sea and says, “I made a difference to that one.”
