Lauren's Pictures

"Is there anything I can do to make myself enlightened?"

"As little as you can do to make the sun rise in the morning."

"Then of what use are the spiritual exercises you prescribe?"

"To make sure you are not asleep when the sun begins to rise."

~ Anthony deMello, from One Minute Wisdom

Here is a sneek peak at the photographs Lauren took in Japan. God these are good. Lauren is one of the greatest photographers I know, and I bow deeply to her vision and skill. Her ability to highlight postures and faces floors me. (Check out her homepage here)

This is a Zen monk at Zuioji, Niihama.

This is the Shingon monk who took care of us at while we stayed at his temple in Koyasan.

Here is a girl relaxing while her mother gazes deeply at the famous rock garden in Ryoanji, Kyoto.

Yasuchika Konno, the Butoh dancer, meeting us in Tokyo.

Here I am playing with some kids on Monkey Mountain, Kyoto.

My beautiful friend Nori, in Tokyo.

A Kannon (Avalokitesvara) sculpture at Koyasan.

A stylish couple at Amemura (America Town) in Osaka.

Me, praying at Sensoji in Asakusa, Tokyo.
